How long did it take you to find a job after leaving ESPEME?
MB: I did a 6-month work placement at Sara Lee to install the Sarbanes-Oxley standards. I got a job at Honeywell in August 2004 as a credit analyst. Then in August 2005 I was promoted and was put in charge of the credit analysis and payment recovery activities of the European sites, based in Prague.
Do you think the ESPEME programme helped make you operational as a young graduate?
MB: The ESPEME programme is a course based on general business that focuses firmly on the practical side of matters. Our theoretical background is complemented by wide-ranging professional experience which includes both work placements and experience in running associations. It's the best way to prepare for the realities of working life.
What do you believe are the benefits of being in contact with professionals at ESPEME?
MB: Being in contact with professionals throughout the course gave me a good network that I can turn to later on in life. Secondly, it allowed me to learn from their experience in their areas of expertise. It helped me to make my own choices from a clear-sighted perspective.
What do you feel are the main advantage of ESPEME when it comes to starting your own career?
MB: ESPEME trains immediately operational executives and the firms are well aware of this.
FOCUS on the profession of a Credit Analyst
The main three missions of the credit analyst are to analyse the risks taken by the bank and the ability of a client to reimburse a loan, to draw up the dossiers and to ensure the transactions are strictly controlled. Credit analysts generally specialise, either working with individual clients, or with business organisations. The job may lead on to another position in the banking world, particularly in the case of business school graduates.
